ANE with the financial support from King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre distributed food commodities to conflict and drought affected vulnerable communities

ANE, with the generous financial support from King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, provided food commodities to vulnerable communities in Filtu and Deka districts of Liben zone, Somali region.

Over the past few years, Filtu zone has been severely affected by drought, water scarcity, and livestock diseases, impacting the lives and livelihoods of the residents. Conflicts have also led to displacement, leaving many in need of urgent humanitarian assistance.

ANE, in partnership with local authorities and other organizations, conducted a rapid food security assessment in Filtu and Deka districts to identify those facing food shortages. The assessment revealed that over 38,000 individuals in these areas were in need of food assistance.

This information was shared with humanitarian agencies, including the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, to mobilize a response. The Centre promptly allocated $396,000 to provide emergency food aid to more than 25,500 individuals or 4,250 families in need.

Through the generous support of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, ANE was able to provide essential food items such as wheat flour, red beans, and edible oil to households in the specified districts. Each household received 30 Kg of wheat flour, 5 Kg of red beans, and 5 liters of oil. The food distribution event was attended by representatives from the Somali regional and local government, KSrelief delegates, ANE's Board of Directors, and other partners. The distribution took place from March 30 to April 1, 2024.

King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre once again came to the aid of the drought and conflict-affected population in Filtu and Deka districts, aiming to address the food insecurity faced by these households. ANE expresses its sincere gratitude for the continuous support from King Salman Humanitarian Organization and looks forward to maintaining this valuable partnership. The regional media outlets have highlighted and shared the significant contribution made by King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre to a wider population.
